Seaver Franks designed this new $3 million church, located at the foot of the Santa Catalina Mountains. The spiritual identity is reflected through architectural form with the integration of space, light, and materials heightening the worship experience. The design of the St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, which blends modern and traditional southwestern elements received an Excellence in Architecture Merit Award from the Arizona Society of the American Institute of Architects.

Completed early 1995, the first mass was celebrated on Easter Sunday. The church seats about 1200 people and is a continuation of a master plan established by Seaver Franks. The architecture compliments the existing surroundings utilizing a southwest contemporary theme.

Seaver Franks designed the main sanctuary and courtyard space to complete this church’s master plan.

Seaver Franks completed a new chapel and separate youth building for Casas Church in Oro Valley. The chapel recalls a modern interpretation of an Old Testament temple, with Outer court, Inner court and Inner Sanctuary. Modeled by an acoustical engineering study, the ceiling “clouds”, splayed walls and sloped floor create an interior for clear speech and music dispersion without mechanical amplification. The youth building has a large multi-use space and classrooms. The design is a continuation of the campus’ building vocabulary and exemplifies Seaver Franks' ability to work within existing parameters.

Santa Cruz Church – Built in 1919 as World War I was coming to a close, this Spanish Colonial Revival Style building is the largest building utilizing unstabilized adobe as the primary material in Arizona. Seaver Franks designed a new roof to replace the existing while carefully protecting the historic interiors.
